Bone Mineral Density through DEXA and CBCT: A Systematic Review with Meta-Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry is used to determine bone density in several pathologies, namely osteoporosis and fracture risk post-menopausal women. The aim of this study was identify, appraise synthesize all available evidence about the correlation between Dual Energy Absorptiometry (DEXA) Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) techniques through a systematic review. A literature search conducted following databases: PubMed via MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, EMBASE Web Science Core Collection, along with sources grey literature. Risk Bias Tools were perform qualitative assessment selected studies. total 913 articles initially scrutinized 11 included for analysis, which 3 meta-analysis. Most studies revealed low bias (7 out 11). strong (min r = 0.46 max 0.62) DEXA CBCT values found. Thus, opportunistic scans may be assess mineral risk, improving ability track disease progression providing better care.

Background: During lactation, metabolic changes in the bone in different areas of the body may affect the amount of bone mineral density. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between breastfeeding and bone mineral density in women. Materials and Methods: In this study, articles were searched at Cochran, Medline (via PubMed), Scopus, and Web of Science databases until June 201...
متن کاملAssociation between essential hypertension and bone mineral density: a systematic review and meta-analysis
BACKGROUND We conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the association between essential hypertension (EH) and bone mineral density (BMD). RESULTS 17 articles were included in our meta-analysis, with a total of 39,491 patients. Of these, 13,375 were patients with EH and 26,116 were patients without EH. Meta-analysis results showed that EH can reduce the BMD of the lumbar...

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a common progressive genetic disorder among children which involves lungs, kidneys, intestine and liver. Apart from the significance of genetic factors, various environmental factors particularly bone mineral density are directly associated with CF. متن کاملEffects of vitamin D supplements on bone mineral density: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
BACKGROUND Findings from recent meta-analyses of vitamin D supplementation without co-administration of calcium have not shown fracture prevention, possibly because of insufficient power or inappropriate doses, or because the intervention was not targeted to deficient populations. Despite these data, almost half of older adults (older than 50 years) continue to use these supplements. Bone miner...
متن کاملComparison of Bone Mineral Density between Urban and Rural Areas: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
BACKGROUND Studies from high income countries (HIC) have generally shown higher osteoporotic fracture rates in urban areas than rural areas. Low bone mineral density (BMD) increases susceptibility to fractures. This review aimed to assess whether urbanicity is consistently associated with lower BMD globally. METHOD Ovid MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Global Health (-April 2013) were searched for articl...
